Shopify, a SaaS eCommerce platform that allows merchants to create online shops and sell products immediately, is called Shopify. Shopify offers many features and functionality that make it simple to organize products and manage orders.

1. Built-In Tools
Shopify’s user interface makes it simple to use a variety tools. Shopify’s Collections allows you to organize your products, track orders and manage inventory. You can also report on sales, customer information, and marketing insights. These tools are easily managed from the control panel. The interface is simple, clear and concise.
Themes are created using Shopify’s Liquid templating language. This markup will feel familiar to anyone who has worked with Ruby and Handlebars.js. Shopify’s servers can also handle SCSS preprocessing. This helps to save time and effort when developing. Shopify’s modular structure for theming keeps files organized.
You can add or modify content depending on which theme you have installed. These themes can be customized to suit different products, collections, and pages.

3. There is potential for expansion
Shopify offers a marketplace and active community to meet the needs of merchants. You can choose from premium and free themes. The built-in editor is available under Online Store->Themes-> Actions->Edit Code. If you don’t have the developer skills, I recommend consulting a Shopify Partner Agency.
Shopify offers third-party integrations that allow for further customizations. These are referred to as Apps. The Shopify App Store offers both premium and free apps. Shopify has an API that allows you to create custom storefronts and integrate with other platforms.
1. Manually intensive
Although third-party apps and themes can provide additional functionality, it is possible that an app might not be compatible with your theme or may need modifications to the theme. App integrations that are more powerful can cost a monthly fee. This can make it expensive to add a few to your store. If your store needs to hire a developer to create custom functionality or integrate new apps, it could be even more costly.
2. Development Process
It is difficult to start from scratch or build upon an existing theme. Shopify does not support SCSS version 3.2 from a front-end standpoint. This is significantly outdated with the most recent version of Sasslang (3.2.56 as of this writing). Shopify will not preprocess your theme’s styles if you rely on it. Shopify does not have useful variable managements like Maps or additional directives like @at root.
You can only use the editor built into Shopify while you are logged in to the store, or the Shopify Slate toolkit to do local development/version control. This tool allows you to dynamically sync local files with your Shopify store, and the active theme.
3. App Integrations can disrupt your theme
You should also remember that not all app integrations are built in the same way. Some apps will create additional files that you can then insert into your theme’s files. These files may not be removed if the app is being deleted. This could leave your theme with some issues and possibly cause more problems down the line. This could be a problem if a developer uses the Slate toolkit for connecting or modifiying the existing theme in your store, but is not aware of the new app’s files. This can make it more difficult to troubleshoot and debug themes.
Shopify is an excellent platform for eCommerce. However, a platform choice ultimately comes down to the business’s specific needs.
